How To Activate the "Law of AS IF ..." In Your Business

Remember the story of the "Little Engine That Could"? This little train had always pulled small loads, but one day it was called upon to deliver something greater. First, it had a hard time getting the load to move at all so it cheered itself on by puffing, "I think I can, I think I can, I think I can ..." The load began to move and then natural momentum began to take over at the top of the hill and it was pulled forward -smoothly and easily ..."

Ahhh - such a nice story, isn't it?

Think your business is any different? Well, your answer says a lot about whether it is ... or it isn't.

In order to accomplish anything, you have to think and act AS IF you can. When you behave as if a task is possible, existing laws come into effect to help you. Consider this: The "Law of AS IF ..." has been activated by great achievers of all times and situations. You don't really think you and your business are any different do you? Or Do You?

Well, what I've come to understand is that most entrepreneurs do activate the Law of AS IF ... as if they can't do it. A lot of energy is invested in all the reasons why something won't work:"I don't have the time ..."

"I don't have the money ..."
"Others in my field/city/country don't do it this way ..."
"It will take too much work ..."
"It's a bad time of year ..."
"I need to learn more ..."
"If only my parents/spouse/the lottery would give me money ..."

The Law is activated, but the energy is being directed away from what they say they want. So there is an energy mis-match, but the Law doesn't know this. It's just following the natural, energetic flow of the science that created it.

I learned how to turn this around for myself in a big way and to really have this Law working for me: I behaved AS IF I could find an affordable apartment in Manhattan. Did it. I behaved AS IF I could find true-love after 30. Did it. I behaved AS IF I could make a highly-profitable living as a coach. Doing it.

What is it about this Law that works? Some may say it enlists the aid of the subconscious mind and I sense this is part of it, but I also sense that there is something HUGE at work here. When you feel a desire to do or to be something you haven't done or been before, you are responding to a divine idea pushing toward manifestation. When you consciously resolve to take action toward realization of that desire, you mentally CLAIM your good. When you behave AS IF you can accomplish your desire, you totally believe that it will be fulfilled. Total belief is active belief including both mental acceptance of the idea and positive action upon it. That's it. AND such belief both springs from and activates faith -- the mightiest power of all.

See, here's the thing: You are designed not only to contemplate divine ideas, but also to manifest them. So when you make a tiny effort of your own, just as the Little Engine did, you find one law after another coming to your aid.

Now, again, remember this: do not misuse the AS IF Law. It operates whether you use it consciously or not. So, if you behave AS IF something not so great exists - that works too. Get it? And either way the Law is contagious. Other energies respond to the activation of the Law of AS IF - always, no matter what. So, imagine, what contagiously would happen (more clients, more money, more freedom...) when you acted AS IF with ...

Do You KNOW that Your Business Is Needed?

Often when first connecting with clients I'll hear basic business blocks that sound like:

  • Yeah, but what gives me the right to teach others how to [fill in service here]??

  • What if I'm not qualified enough?

  • Yeah, but I can't because of [fill in not-so-great past or present experience].

  • What if no one really needs or wants what I have?

  • Yeah, but people see my business as a luxury - they don't really need it ...

Most entrepreneurs get stopped because of the stories they tell themselves that spring from these kind of questions. These are what I call "Yeah, buts" and "What ifs". Usually they aren't anywhere near true, but you repeat them so often that you begin to believe that they are. And then that's where your energy goes. When your energies aren't aligned, you can't figure out what to do next (or if you do, you push your way through it and then wonder why you feel exhausted, burned-out or frustrated).

Sound familiar?

Starting right here and right now as your coach I want you to quit thinking of yourself and your business as unneeded, unimportant, unnecessary or undoable.

You've been called to be in business for a reason. It's part of your divine plan. You have something to offer that only you can offer in the way that you offer it. You have ways of serving that make you needed.

The best way to activate this knowing for yourself is to stop comparing yourself to others. "Oh, this is what so-and-so is doing in their business. Why can't I be doing that? That's what I SHOULD be doing." Honestly, you really wouldn't want to be anyone else if you could. And, honestly, you never could even if you really wanted to. You are you. So, what do you sense would happen if instead you appreciated others and their business success? What do you sense would happen if you also appreciated yourself and your business?

Appreciate all the wonderful powers and abilities you have to offer. Appreciate your strengths. Appreciate your power.

I want you to think for a moment about how you have grown through the experiences of your life, think of the understanding and insight you've gained. All of this, "good" and "bad" is what qualifies you to be offering the service you offer.

Others can't recognize that they need what you have if you don't recognize it first.

I once spoke to a woman who was telling me that the field that she was in is very "surface oriented" so it wasn't possible for her to really be herself. She couldn't bring to her business her connection to Spirit. I explained to her that by keeping this part of herself hidden was actually a disservice to her business. Now, I wasn't saying she needed to necessarily go to the extreme and start shouting from the rooftops, but explained that to deny this part of herself in her business was most likely preventing her from connecting with her ideal clients who needed her: those folks out there who were thinking, "Gosh, everyone in this line of service is so surface oriented. I'd really like to hire someone with a bit more depth. I need this."

Believe in yourself. Know that what you have is needed. And that you must speak about it, so those that need it can hear you.

Use Your Uniqueness to Up Sales

Tapping into your uniqueness and using it effectively is the “Hidden Key” to increasing business sales. Accessing this part of who you are and what you offer through your business will assist you in languaging your offer to your prospects and clients in a way that has them saying, “Yes, I want that!” This goes for verbal conversations AND on all marketing materials.

Here are 7 quick-straight-from-the-hip ways to use your uniqueness to up your sales:

1. First become aware of all the qualities, individualities, expertise, and gifts that you offer. This isn’t just what you do, but how YOU do it. (Hint: No on

Do You Fuel Your Business With Fun or Fear?

Having a business of your dreams is all about the energy. I have coached many people that had no clue of HOW they were going to do things, and in some cases, they had some real gaps in skills like marketing and selling. But, when they really understood that this is an ENERGY game- first and foremost- and they focused more on the way they felt, and how they could make small shifts, then they started to see things showing up that AMAZED them.

(They had no logical explanation, by the way.) For example, one person got $50,000 in funding after she "accidentally" met a vendor when the one she was waiting for didn't show up. Could anyone even PLAN for something like that?

In a process like this, in creating your IDEAL business, starting at the energy and core belief levels ensures you will experience some conflicts. It will feel very different from what your brain thinks you need to do right now to be successful! The goal is to allow the conflicts and begin to take baby steps, so even when you are in some conflicting energy, it becomes automatic that you start at the shifting energy level first before you start at the doing level.

How do I want to feel? How can I take some little steps to feel more of that way?" THEN you start looking at actions that you can take that will be in alignment with the way you want to feel. These ACTIONS will produce the greatest results. Then you can start creating the fun approaches to your business! This is what I call Get-It-Done-Gal Energy... the Energy Juice. You can't get better business fuel than this.

Imagine what it's like to not be pulled off center when a conflict shows up. You'll feel better AND get more done in your business. So great, right?

This is part of the process. Hear me: Conflict is part of the joyful evolutionary process in your business, in your life! Let it be ok! Are You Maximizing Your Marketing System?

Your overall marketing system is probably the most important system in your business and the one that can also be most overlooked (hard to believe, I know, but true).

The thing is, you'll find that this system in particular, out of all of your business systems, will have tiny off-spring systems. For instance, you have your overall system that may include:

Word of mouth

Networking

Email Campaigns

Direct Mail Campaigns

Internet Marketing

Speaking

Writing articles

Products

Events

... and more ...

and each that's part of the bigger system has it's own system. It's a Universe in motion, actually!

So how can you maximize your marketing system with all of these options? With so much going on?

The first thing you need to do is take a look at what you are presently doing to market yourself and identify the 3 you LOVE the most (it like almost makes you giddy you like it so much). Notice I didn't say the one you do the most.

Then for each area determine how many times per month you currently use that system.

Next, ask these assessment questions:

· How can I amp up this by at least one notch? Two notches?
(Maybe instead of once a month you move it to two. Maybe instead of sending out 25 postcards you send out 250.)

· What needs to happen so that this is more effective?
(Are you following up effectively? Do all of your materials have a strong call to action on them or do they just list your information?)

· How can I improve the follow-through or conversion from start to finish of the system?
(Is there an extra step that needs to be added? Do you need to manage your energy around your beliefs of being "too pushy"?)

This last question is crucial. Marketing is worth very little if it is not bringing in more business. You must determine how to best focus and utilize your marketing energy. So, if you see an area of marketing that is not producing the results you desire you have two choices: 1) Ask, how can this particular marketing process be done differently to produce different results and 2) Let it go.

Remember, if something about your marketing isn't working - You Aren't Doing Something Wrong. You Just Need To Do Something Different. (Feel the difference in the energy between the two?)
